Author Guest of Honour: Kristi Charish
Kristi Charish is the author of Owl and the Japanese Circus (Simon and Schuster Canada / Pocket Books) about an urban fantasy about a modern-day “Indiana Jane” who reluctantly navigates the hidden supernatural world, and The Voodoo Killings (Random House Canada) about a voodoo practitioner living in Seattle with the ghost of a deceased grunge rocker. She is also a scientist, with a BSc and MSc in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University and a PhD in Zoology from University of British Columbia.
Kristi writes what she loves; adventure heavy stories featuring strong, savvy female protagonists, pop culture, and the occasional RPG fantasy game. She specializes in translating science for fiction and was also the Canadian co-hosting half of the Adventures in Sci-Fi Publishing Podcast. She is represented by Carolyn Forde at Westwood Creative Artists.
Artist Guest of Honour: Nancie Green
Nancie Green always wanted to be a fairy with pink and purple wings. While she wasn’t able to achieve that dream, she has become an accomplished and celebrated artist of science fiction and fantasy works. She was drawn to photography and writing, and when she bought her first computer in the early 1990s, she was instantly hooked on photograph manipulation and multi-media work. Nancie loves photograph manipulation because it allows her to use tools to blend her dreams with her photos, fully satisfying both the geek and the artist in her.
Fan Guest of Honour: R. Graeme Cameron
Graeme Cameron is originally from Ontario, and has lived in the Vancouver area since 1968. He is a previous VCON chair and program book editor, and a long time attendee and fan of the convention. He is currently the archivist for WCSFA, British Columbia Science Fiction Association, Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association, and Canadian Fanzine Fanac Awards Society. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from University of British Columbia and has many jobs in his lifetime, the most recent being a publisher for Polar Borealis magazine.
